  1. Waitangi Forest – Logging Information - IMPORTANT

Harvesting in the Waitangi Crown Forest Licence is now scheduled to commence during the last week of June ( this the Kerikeri end of the forest – not the bike park end)

  • The Douglas Logging operations will commence on Horn Road (Marker 9 Te Wairoa Road) and then progress to Diesel and Croak Roads.
  • The Douglas crew will be operating in the CFL through to September.  In August/September another crew (Wise on Wood) will be returning to the Endowment Forest for harvesting on Te Wairoa Road near No.6 & Rosella Roads, and then moving to the CFL (Furness Road) to operate through to November.
  • All trucks will be entering and exiting via the Bledisloe gate, and will be using the one-way Te Puke/Bledisloe circuit.
  • Metalling operations have commenced in the forest; this will include machines operating on the Te Puke/Bledisloe circuit – to allow for the safe delivery of metal, there will be a need to have the metal trucks periodically travel against the one-way circuit on Te Puke Road.  When this is in effect signs will be in place advising of the two-way traffic.  This change will only be in effect for metal trucks during these metalling operations, and will not apply to any other vehicle traffic.

  1. Event Reports

Urban Rogaine Sunday 10 June

With extensive logging occurring in the Waitangi Forest and the tracks wet and slippery under winter conditions it was decided to try something different – an urban rogaine!

This event used Kerikeri / Waipapa / Kerikeri Inlet area, with control points scattered from Waitotara Road Waipapa to the bottom of Reinga Road on the Kerikeri Inlet.  Many of the high scoring controls were in difficult to access reserves.  Very good turn out . Entrants ranged from hard core mountain bikers to mums with kids on their bikes.  Prizes were weighted towards the kids but winners were:

3 hour event

  • Overall                 Team Zikovich followed by Team Cassells
  • Females               Team Snog
  • Juniors                 Team Excalibur
