RIDE WHITEHILLS

Whitehills Forest, 8 km North of Waipapa offers a diverse range of terrain, including plantation forest, areas of native bush, gentle rolling areas and steep gullies with over 200m of decent to play with. Kerikeri MTB are developing a network of club tracks to suit intermediate to expert riders, that can be accessed from  a single forest road.

Entry is available to members and daypass holders. The forest is closed to MTB activities every Wednesday and 1st Saturday each month for permitted hunting.

Whitehills is a busy commercial forest made available to us by Summit Forests NZ, who own and manage the forest.  Hunters, bee-keepers, forestry workers, roading maintenance, pest control and mountain bikers share the same space so activites are co-ordinated with other forest users to ensure it is safe for us to be there.

Kiwi and Kauri live here so leave the dog at home and use the Kauri Protection wash station

There is very limited roadside parking so members are able to purchase keys to the club parpark.  If you do park on the roadside, pleaseleave room for vehicles to use the gates.

Club Rides

Tuesday Evenings, Winter Riding and Lights

Meet at 5.30 at the Whitehills Carpark. Everyone welcome. We ride for about 2 hours and the route and pace evolve to suit riders on the night. Just turn up.

We’d like to think we are not just fair-weather riders! Tuesday Night Club Rides continue into the cooler months so decent MTB lights are essential as the evenings get shorter. If you are new to night-riding get some recommendations of suitable lights. Under 16 year olds need to be with an adult who has agreed to keep an eye on them.

Sunday Afternoons

There are usually groups riding between 2pm and 5pm. Meet up at 2pm in the carpark, co-ordinate with others or use your key to come and go. Small  groups are off doing their own thing and meet up between runs.

Weekend Digs

A team of dedicated volunteer trail builders are out several times a week, scouting out new tracks. Occassional working bees are a great way to get involved in this side of the club.
